WHAT THE CTCPM IS ?

The "CTCPM", Technical Mining Coordination and Planning Unit is an Organ charged with Counsel, Research and Coordination of the mining sector's activities. Created by the 11 April 1973 Ordinance n° 78-153, it is placed under the direct authority of the Mining Minister. Its offices are located on the 7th floor of the Gécamines Building, Boulevard du 30 Juin, Kinshasa/Gombe. It constitutes the Focal Point for any information relating to the promotion of the Democratic Republic of Congo's mining sector.

THE CTCPM HAS THE FOLLOWING ROLES :

  • Harmonization and coordination between Ministries and Organizations interested in the resolution of mining problems
  • Scheduling of national mining activities related to research, increase in value of mining indexes, production, processing, transport and marketing of mining products
  • Centralization and organization of the circulation of the mining sector's information
  • Control of the achievement of scheduled mining activities

THE CTCPM'S STRUCTURE

The CTCPM comprises two organs, namely : the Permanent Committee and the Consulting Committee.
The Permanent Committee is a permanent structure in charge of the execution of all tasks relating to the role and mission entrusted to the CTCPM. The Permanent Committee is directed by a Coordinator assisted by two Deputy Coordinators, one in charge of Administrative and Financial issues and the other in charge of Technical issues. The CTCPM is made up of nine (9) departments with an administrative or financial and technical nature.

Technical departments are in charge of all the aspects of the mining sector going from prospecting to marketing.

The CTCPM's headcount adds up to a hundred or so executives and employees including earth science experts, lawyers, economists, communicators, computer scientists...

THE CTCPM'S MISSION IS TO :

  • Issue opinions and formulate proposals in the mining field;
  • Conceive policies and strategies for the development of the mining sector;
  • See to the transfer of the technology to national executives working in mining companies;
  • Carry out surveys or make them carried out by the mining sector;
  • Handle various other mining issues not falling to the competence of other departments of the Mining Ministry.
